This new online course, “The Application of Treatment Essentials for Problem Gambling,” was developed following the high demand for our two-day Problem Gambling Training Partnership events.   

In this course, leading experts in the field of problem gambling present research and educational resources to mitigate and address gambling disorder. Participants will gain a better understanding of problem gambling and how it impacts the lives of clients, as well as thorough knowledge of the application of problem gambling treatment essentials. 

The course covers the following topics as they relate to problem gambling: 

• Understanding New York’s Casino Legislation 
• Introduction to Problem Gambling 
• Cognitive Motivational Behavior Therapy Interventions 
• Neurobiology 
• Crisis Management 
• Screening, Assessment and Brief Intervention 
• Resources for Further Support and Learning 

This course is completely self-guided and consists of videos and additional reference materials.  Participants who complete the course are eligible for 14 OASAS CASAC/CPP/CPS clock hours. (Social work credits are not available at this time.)
