Training for Counselors
Gambling problems are rarely on the minds of counselors as they are treating clients for addictions, anxiety or other disorders, but having a better understanding of what gambling disorder is and how it can impact the lives of your clients cannot be underestimated. The New York Council on Problem Gambling is pleased to offer problem gambling trainings that range in complexity from an overview of the issue to a specialized training program and advanced clinical topic trainings. Gambling disorder is a unique problem that is not only extremely stigmatized but often referred to as the “hidden” addiction. Be prepared to assess this problem further with your clients so that you can either provide or refer them to appropriate and effective care.
If you are already working with clients experiencing gambling problems, you will benefit from our free clinical supervision sessions and clinical supervision training series. These sessions provide the opportunity for case conferencing and advanced topic trainings to support your treatment and add to your clinical toolbox.
