Professional Training on Problem Gambling

One of the most sought after services of the New York Council of Problem Gambling are our trainings. We utilize top notch training professionals to develop and deliver our educational programs and we are proud to be recognized as the leading experts on problem gambling in NYS.

Are you interested in becoming more knowledgeable about problem gambling? Has this issue been raised by your clients or students? Are your patrons struggling with this issue and you are not sure how to help?  The NYCPG Training Center has training available for various professionals including treatment providers, prevention providers, gaming industry employees, and more. Whether you are a guidance counselor at a high school, a counselor not yet specializing in gambling, or an employee at a casino who is beginning to feel the responsibility of looking out for problem gamblers in your place of employment, we have online and face-to-face trainings to meet your needs.

Available Continuing Education Credits

  • All NYCPG trainings satisfy the New York State Office of Addiction Services and Supports (NYS OASAS) requirements for Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) and Credentialed Prevention Provider (CPP) with gambling specialty designation clock hours.
  • NYCPG is recognized by the New York State Education Department’s State Board for Social Work as an approved provider of continuing education for licensed social workers #SW-0345.  Courses eligible for this credit are identified in the course description.
  • NYCPG is recognized by the New York State Education Department’s State Board for Mental Health Practitioners as an approved provider of continuing education for licensed mental health counselors #MHC-0211.  Courses eligible for this credit are identified in the course description.

  • Clinical Supervision

    The New York Council on Problem Gambling encourages all clinicians encountering problem gambling with their clients to attend clinical supervision sessions.  To support this effort, NYCPG offers clinical supervision to all NYS  professionals. Our sessions are facilitated by a clinician trained in issues specific to those experiencing, or affected by, a gambling problem.  Check out the schedule of upcoming sessions!

    Whether you are new to the field of problem gambling, or are a practitioner with years of experience, the New York Council on Problem Gambling recommends regular continuing education to stay on top of trends in the field. To that end, NYCPG has designed a variety of self-study continuing education opportunities to aid in this professional development.  All sessions are self-paced, and can be accessed at any time after registration.
